Module 1 - Bank on it

Objectives:

  3. Recognize differences between banks and check-cashing services
  4. Identify bank employees and their jobs
  5. Identify the types of accounts
  6. Describe banking services

Module 2 - Borrowing Basics

Objectives:

  1. Explain the value of credit
  2. Describe the different types of loans

Module 3 - Check it Out

Objectives:

  1. Identify benefits of using a bank versus a check-cashing service
  2. Identify types of checking account fees
  3. Compare types of checking accounts
  4. Open a checking account
  5. Write checks
  6. Use ATM and debit cards
  7. Keep records for a checking account
  8. Reconcile a checking account

Module 4 - Money Matters

Objectives:

  1. Describe the concept of budgeting
  2. Recognize the benefits of budgeting
  3. Use a budgeting tool

Module 5 - Pay Yourself First

Objectives:

  1. Identify ways to save money
  2. Describe how money can grow when you save
  3. Tell the difference between types of savings and investment accounts

Module 6 - Keep it Safe

Objectives:

  1. Identify the laws that protect their rights as banking consumers
  2. Identify ways to avoid scams
  3. Identify ways to protect their identity
  4. Resolve complaints regarding their bank accounts

Module 7 - To your Credit

Objectives:

  1. Identify a credit report and how it is used
  2. Order a credit report
  3. Read a credit report
  4. Identify ways to start repairing credit
  5. Recognize credit repair scams
  6. Identify available resources

Module 8 - Charge it Right

Objectives:

  1. Identify characteristics of credit cards

  3. Recognize potential problems with credit card use

Module 9 - Loan to Own

Objectives:

  1. Describe the different types of consumer installment loans
  2. Determine the right consumer installment loan for their needs

Module 10 - Your own Home

Objectives:

  1. Describe the benefits and pitfalls of renting versus owning a home
  2. Ask questions to determine readiness to buy a home
  3. Identify different mortgage programs
  4. Recognize basic terms used in a mortgage transaction
